laboratory identification method of microorganism

 IDENTIFICATION METHOD OF BACTERIA -

INTRODUCTION - Bacteria or microorganism identification is a necessary part of diseases diagnosis. Identification of bacteria,  we use microscopy, medical, biochemical & serological method.

IDENTIFICATION METHODS OF BACTERIA -

(1). MORPHOLOGICAL TEST.
(2). RESISTANCE.
(3). BIO-CHEMICAL TEST.
(4). BASED ON IMMUNOLOGICAL METHOD.
(5). SEROLOGICAL TEST.
(6). STAINING REACTION.
(7). MICROSCOPE.

(1). MORPHOLOGICAL TEST - Morphology is a study of bacterial size, shape, arrangements. This phenomenon is known as MORPHOLOGY.
Identification by morphology - This method is to determine the individual bacteria physical appearance ( size & shape ).

SUB POINTS -
(A). Based on size - Bacteria are identified based on their physical size like small or big.
Ex- cocci, streptococci, streptobaccillus.

(B). Based on shape - The structure of bacteria various like spirical, coccus, baccillus.

(2).IDENTIFICATION BY  RESISTANCE -  Antibiotics are specific to certain bacteria few bacteria develope resistance certain types of antibiotics.
Ex- Tuberculosis  i. e., mycobacterium tuberculosis is not affected by PENICILLIN but killed by CIPROFLOXACIN , so that is differentiation can be used to identify the bacteria.

(4). IDENTIFICATION BY BASED ON IMMUNOLOGICAL METHOD -  ELISA-
ELISA also known as Enzyme Linked Immuno sorbent Assays. It is biochemical technique used mainly in immunology to detect the present of an antibody or an antigen in a sample.

(5). IDENTIFICATION BY SEROLOGICAL TEST -  Identification of bacteria is done by use of antibodies and antigens which the specific antigen attach to the specific antibodies , antigen means separated bacteria.

(6). IDENTIFICATION BY STAINING REACTION - Staining is a simple basic techniques that is used to identify microorganism.  This technique used in study of bacterial cell. Staining techniques mostly used of study of bacterial cell wall which are positive or negative.

(7). IDENTIFICATION BY MICROSCOPE - Microscope instrument having a magnifying lens or a combination of lenses for inspecting objects too small to be seen or too small distinctly and in detail by the unaided eye.
